This Week at Churchill Estates

Each week we will present a run down of highlights of what will be going on at Churchill Estates Retirement Community in the coming week. It was a warm, yet rainy and windy weekend in Eugene, Oregon. The forecast for the Eugene area is calling for a lot of rain and wind in the coming days. We are currently under a wind advisory until tonight, and on flood watch until Wednesday night. We hope everyone stays dry and that the wind dies down quickly.

Today we take a second to remember “a date that (Still) lives in infamy”. Seventy-four years ago today Pearl Harbor was bombed by the Japanese Air Force, which led us into World War II. Many lives were lost that day as many ships where sunk from torpedoes and from direct strikes from Kamikaze pilots. You may know someone who was at Pearl Harbor, or someone who served in World War II after the United States declared war. Today we think about all those who lived, and those who died on this day during that attack.

Today is also the first day of Hanukah, we sat down with one of our residents to learn more about this holiday that sometimes doesn’t receive the its due because of Christmas. Look for that blog later today.

Today is also the birthday of our business manager Heidi Ritter, she is off today, but if you see her tomorrow be sure to wish her a happy birthday.

We kick this week off with a trip to the Dollar Store to buy whatever tickles our fancy. Wednesday we will go on our weekly shopping trip, this week we will be roaming the isles of Fred Meyer.

Thursday will be a busy day for us at Churchill. First, we have our first Christmas carols being sung in our Multi-Purpose Room by the Staley Sisters at 11:00 AM, then at 2:30 PM we have our monthly birthday party, this month Timothy Patrick will be our entertainment. Friday we will have reader’s theatre in our Multi-Purpose Room at 3:00 PM.

All in all it’s a great week to be at Churchill Estates Retirement Community, come join the fun, Happy Holidays from all of us and Go Ducks!
