This Week at Churchill Estates

Each week we will present a run down of highlights of what will be going on at Churchill Estates Retirement Community in the coming week.  It’s going to be a busy second week of June and we are excited to get it started!

It’s been a very warm last few days, and it looks to continue through out the week. We hope that everyone is staying hydrated as the temperatures rise. Here are some tips we wrote about this winter for staying hydrated that still hold true in the summer.

Over the last few days and in the week to come a few employees, former employees and friends of Churchill Estates, have or will walk across the stage and receive their diploma as they graduate from high school or college.  Many congratulations will be bestowed upon these graduates, and we would like to congratulate them as well. Congrats to Corey Gibson, Alexis Fadich and Devin Fuller as they graduated High School the end of last week. Also congratulations to Lauren Earthman and Katelyn Loper who will graduate from the University of Oregon this weekend.  We hope that you enjoy your day, you’ve earned it, but remember in life the learning never ends.

A quick reminder that June is Alzheimer's and Brain awareness month; all month long we will be posting article, pictures and more to raise awareness for this terrible and debilitating disease. Join us in helping spread the word and wearing purple on June 21st for the Longest Day. Find out more about The Longest Day here at their website, click the button.

This week its going to be busy, a lot of our residents are switching from watching Tennis to basketball, soccer and hockey. The United States Women’s team kicks off their World Cup tonight in Canada tonight, also tonight is game three of the Stanley Cup Finals. Tied at one game apiece this exciting series moves into game three. Tuesday night the NBA finals resume for game three as this series is also tied at one game apiece. A few of our residents will be skipping dinner the next few nights to be in front of their TVs.

Tomorrow we will have Avon Calling at 10:30 in the Family Room. Wednesday we will be going on our weekly shopping trip at Fred Meyer. Thursday is our monthly birthday party. We are excited to welcome the Old Time Fiddlers to our facility. They will be our entertainment for our party and it should be a good ole time. Friday will be a busy day for us. For lunch we will be having a Barbeque. Nothing signals the coming of summer like some tasty barbeque and we will be enjoying it with some cold ice tea. Later Friday afternoon at 1:30 we will be loading up the bus and going to Thistle Down Farm to pick some strawberries, see some flowers and maybe even have some ice cream. At 3:00 we welcome our friend Stan back to the facility as he plays in our Assisted Living.

All in all it’s a great week to be at Churchill Estates Retirement Community, come join the fun!
