This Week at Churchill Estates

Each week we will present a run down of highlights of what will be going on at Churchill Estates Retirement Community in the coming week. It was a beautiful weekend here in Eugene, Oregon. Astronomically it was an awesome weekend. Last night there was a total eclipse of a Super “Blood” Moon seen all over the Northern Hemisphere. Luckily those of us in Eugene who wanted to watch were unencumbered by clouds as they were in some parts of the country. It was a beautiful scene watching the moon turn reddish, disappear and reappear in the night sky.

The Ducks got shocked this weekend at home versus Utah. Utah treated Oregon like a cupcake running away from Oregon 62-20. The Ducks couldn’t get much going with either Vernon Adams or Jeff Lockie at the helm. Adams showed just how hurt his index finger is. The Men of Oregon lost Byron Marshall to injury after he injured his leg on a kickoff return. Hopefully the senior’s injury isn’t too serious. Oregon will look to rebound against Colorado next weekend.

The Churchill Chuckers started off the weekend with a victory in their tournament at Solvang Retirement Friday afternoon. The Chuckers were ready to go in this tournament knocking off Solvang by 244 pins. Another trophy as added to the trophy case, the Chuckers will look forward to the next tournament, as they will try to keep their winning streak going!

This week we get the week started right, we will be going to Goodwill to do some junking this afternoon at 1:30 PM. our residents look the search for little trinkets and treasures in these visits to thrift shops. Later on today we will load up the bus and head to Jalisco’s for dinner. We take these little trips to mix it up and we just love some good Mexican food.

Tuesday we will be entertained by the Sharon Sisters at 11:00 AM, they will be singing in the Multi-Purpose Room. Wednesday is our weekly grocery-shopping trip, this week we will be going to Grocery Outlet. Thursday our lobbies will be a little bit furrier than usual. We will have a few owners bringing their therapy dogs in for our residents to pet and hang out with.

Friday we will welcome in October in style with our Octoberfest. At 2:30 PM in the Independent Dining Room we will have soft pretzels, beer, other food and snacks along with a polka band playing some music. Come join us for a fun time Friday afternoon!
