Each week we will present a run down of highlights of what will be going on at Churchill Estates Retirement Community in the coming week. It was a beautifully sunny, yet cold weekend here in Eugene, Oregon. The leaves are almost all gone as the winds have blown over the last two weeks. The temperatures are starting to drop as we near Thanksgiving later this week, but inside it is nice and warm!
The Men of Oregon proved to be better than the Men of Troy on Saturday as Vernon Adams Jr. threw for 407 yards and 6 touchdowns and the defense showed flashes of stoutness as the Ducks beat the Trojans 48-28 in front of a packed house at Autzen Stadium. The Trojans had some long drives that were answered quickly by the Ducks, who have found their quick-strike ability once again. Every time it seemed that the Trojans were mounting a comeback, a quick drive from the offense would put them in their place. The Ducks now look forward to the Civil War on Friday afternoon. They will be heavily favored against the Beavers, and then will look to see in what bowl they will be playing in December.
The Oregon Women’s Basketball team went 2-0 on their first weekend of games. Thursday night they beat Hampton in which Jillian Alleyne became the all-time leader rebounder in Oregon history, passing Bev Smith. Sunday they beat University of California at Santa Barbara. They will welcome Clemson to Matthew Knight Arena on Tuesday night looking to extend their winning streak to four games to start the year.
This week we are getting ready for Thanksgiving, it’s a great time for many of our resident’s whose families come to town to be with them. A few highlights from the week to come. Junko is back from vacation and will have her Exercise Fun class in the Multi-Purpose Room today, Wednesday and Friday. Wednesday we will be going on our weekly grocery-shopping trip to Wal-Mart to get any last second items needed for the big day.
Thursday is of course Thanksgiving; our staff is already making preparations for our dinner at 1:00 pm on Thursday afternoon. There will be some really great food and desserts for all. If you haven’t already called and reserved your table, please call 541-485-8320 and ask for Lisa.
All in all it’s a great week to be at Churchill Estates Retirement Community, come join the fun, Happy Holidays from all of us and Go Ducks!
