Each week we will present a run down of highlights of what will be going on at Churchill Estates Retirement Community in the coming week. We hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable 4th of July weekend. It was a warm weekend, and we are looking forward to next weekend when the weather is forecasted for the 80’s! The last week was very eventful in Eugene as Civic Stadium, home for many years to the Eugene Emeralds and many other events burned to the ground on Monday night. Many of our residents have fond memories of hanging out at the ballpark and have expressed how much they miss the old stadium. we also had a small earthquake just outside of Springfield on the 4th, many in the area felt the 4.2 magnitude quake around 8:42 AM on Saturday morning. Between the hot weather, the fire at Civic Stadium and the earthquake, here’s to hoping for a plain normal, cooler week.
Yesterday the United States Women’s National team laid a beat down on Japan in the final of the Women’s World Cup winning 5-2. For the first time since 1999 the World Cup is back in the hands for the Americans. Carli Lloyd continued her hot streak with a hat trick part of a four-goal explosion in the first 16 minutes of the game with help from Lauren Holiday. Lloyd winner of the Golden Ball scored in every elimination game for the U.S. this world cup Japan scored a goal late in the first half and early in the second half to pull within two goals, but Tobin Heath answered to give the U.S. the final margin of victory. The victory serves as revenge for Japan beating the U.S. in the final of the 2011 world cup.
This week we start off with a trip to the Dollar Store, a great place to buy any little trinkets and utensils for our residents. Tuesday we will have Avon calling, our residents will be coming down to the Family Room to get their favorite Avon Products from Sharon.
Wednesday we will be going on our weekly shopping trip, this week we will be going to Fred Meyer to get our groceries for the next week. Thursday is our monthly birthday party, our entertainment this month will be brought to us by Tim "Sinatra", a new face for our residents and we are excited to hear him sing!
All in all it’s a great week to be at Churchill Estates Retirement Community, come join the fun!
