Each week we will present a run down of highlights of what will be going on at Churchill Estates Retirement Community in the coming week. It is the last day of August and this weekend Mother Nature tried to make up a little bit for how hot and dry it’s been this summer here in Eugene, Oregon. Friday night and Saturday morning featured some sprinkles and a little bit of true rain. Saturday night we saw the first down pour since around March, and had a few more minutes of downpour Sunday afternoon as well! The forecast projects a chance of rain Wednesday and Friday, but clear skies and sunny for Saturday!
Today we get the week going with a trip to St Vicent De Paul’s to do some junkin. Our residents will be scouring the store looking for neat little trinkets and treasures to add to their collection. Wednesday we will be going on our weekly grocery shopping trip, this week we will visit Safeway & Rite Aid.
Friday will be a packed day as usual, we start the day with a trip to the Eugene library to get all the books and audio books we will need for the next couple weeks. For our Friday afternoon music hour we will start with our friend Stan playing his guitar in the Residential Care lobby at 2:30, then at 3:00 we will have Glenn playing the harp over in the Assisted Living.
Here in Eugene you don’t even have to mention what will be happening on Saturday afternoon. Football returns to Autzen Stadium as the Ducks welcome Eastern Washington to the Willamette Valley. On Friday Coach Mark Helfrich announced that 5th year senior transfer Vernon Adams Jr would be the week one starter at quarterback against his former team. The whirlwind summer for Adams has come to an end and now its time to leave the speculation on the sidelines as he takes the field to prove he belongs. Adams may be feeling nervous, but he hasn’t let on or let it show. Saturday at the annual Fan Day Adams seemed relaxed, and quite at home has hundreds (maybe thousands) waited in line to be one of the first to meet the new Oregon QB and get his autograph and a few pictures. One thing we know for certain is that Eugene will be rocking on Saturday; the buzz is back in the air because football is back.

All in all it’s a great week to be at Churchill Estates Retirement Community, come join the fun, and Go Ducks!
