This Week at Churchill Estates

Each week we will present a run down of highlights of what will be going on at Churchill Estates Retirement Community in the coming week. It was a really warm weekend here in Eugene, Oregon with temperatures getting into the 90’s on Saturday. It might be the last of the really warm days as temperatures will be in the mid 60’s today through Thursday with a possibility of rain on Wednesday and Thursday before climbing into the mid 70’s for the weekend.

It was a rough weekend for the football teams of Oregon. Oregon and Oregon State both were in Michigan this weekend for their second games of the season, Oregon playing Michigan State and Oregon State playing Michigan, both came home with losses. It was a tough game for the Ducks, after racing down the field for an opening touchdown. Yards came much harder for Royce Freeman as he couldn’t really get it going against the stout Michigan State defense. Vernon Adams struggled a bit, hampered by an injury to his index finger that clearly affected his play. The Ducks still had a chance to tie or win late, but couldn’t make the plays down the stretch. Oregon will be back home at Autzen this week and welcomes Georgia State into the friendly confines. The game will be broadcasted on Pac 12 Networks Saturday at 11:00 AM.

Today we start the week off with a visit from Holly Jewelry. Holly will be bringing in her latest finds for our residents to see and buy in the Multi-Purpose Room at 11:00. Tomorrow we will have Avon Calling in the Family Room at 10:30 AM. Wednesday we will be going on our weekly shopping trip, this week we have a daily double, as we will be going to Albertson’s and Bi-Mart. Friday we wrap up the week with our music hour starting at 2:30 with our friend Gordon playing his guitar in the Residential Care, followed by a first time performer Kathy Kali who will play in our Assisted Living at 3:00.

Friday evening we invite you to join us in downtown Eugene for the second annual Paint the Town Purple event benefitting the Alzheimer’s Association. Between 5:00 and 8:00 PM Keesey Square and downtown Eugene will be transformed into a self-guided tour of many merchants, local artists and live music. Paint the Town Purple will create awareness of the disease to spread the word for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, which is the 11th of October at Alton Baker Park.

All in all it’s a great week to be at Churchill Estates Retirement Community, come join the fun, and Go Ducks!
